Do-It-Yourself Method- Remove all screws from the box
- Remove numbers from box by prying gently with screwdriver. Lay numbers on newspaper, and spray paint with Gold "Rust-Oleum Metallic Paint". Note that the screw heads on the numbers are fake. Alternatively, you can leave the numbers on the box and paint by hand with a small modellers brush.
- Use sandpaper/steel wool/wire brush to remove all rust from the box and rough up the surfaces for paint. Remove sanding dust before painting using a wet rag.
- Spray "Rust-Oleum Rusty Metal Primer" on any areas that were heavily rusted for maximum rust protection in the future.
- Spray paint with black "Rust-Oleum Gloss Protective Enamel".
- Replace rusted nuts/bolts with stainless steel 1/4"x5/8" and 10/32"x1/2" nuts and bolts.
- If necessary, reafix numbers to box using a few dabs of pure silicone caulk. Do this with the number flag off the box on its side so the numbers dont slip while drying. The silicone holds well, but still allows the numbers to be removed in the future, if necessary.
